Texas State University / Acceptance rate

To increase access to higher education, Texas State University offers the Bobcat Promise. This program guarantees free tuition and mandatory fees for 15 credit hours per semester to new entering freshmen with a FAFSA income that does not exceed $50,000.

Above average academic achievement is demonstrated by means of class rank (i.e. being ranked by your school in the top half of the class) or have a grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.0. Applications must also have an education equivalent to that of a U.S. high school graduate.

Texas State utilizes the four-point system. The GPA is the total number of grade points earned divided by the number of semester hours attempted. Semester grade symbols have the following values: “A” = 4 points; “B” = 3 points; “C” = 2 points; “D” = 1 point; “F” and “U” = 0 points.

The 80th Texas Legislature created the Top 10% Scholarship to encourage students who graduate in the top 10% of their high school class to attend a Texas public institution of higher education.

It's a prestigious academic competition that recognizes top-performing students based on their PSAT/NMSQT scores. The benefits of becoming a National Merit Scholar can be significant, depending on the level you reach and which colleges you're interested in attending.

The Dean's List honors outstanding academic achievement by undergraduate students in each of the University's Colleges. Undergraduate students must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours and earn at least a 3.5 GPA at the end of any Fall or Spring semester in order to receive this distinction.

State Graduation Requirements

Students follow the high school graduation plan that was in place when they began ninth grade. The four graduation plans currently in use require students to earn 22 to 26 course credits.

Your NetID is made up of random letters and numbers (there may also be an underscore, ex: d_b123, or db123), and you use it to access services like Canvas, Catsweb, or library databases. This would also be your TXST email when adding txstate.edu to the end: d_b123@txstate.edu, or db123@txstate.edu.

Your Student ID number is assigned by the Graduate College. It begins with A + 8 digits (e.g., A00123456). You will need to provide this ID for course registration questions and for many other university activities. Please include it when requesting assistance from your program coordinator or administrative assistant.

If you have a Texas state ID card or driver license, it will be listed as a number (probably eight digits) labeled ID or DL on the front of the card. If you don't have a state ID card or a license, you don't have a state ID number.
